By Bryan Hood and Craig Hubert | It’s the third Saturday in April, which means it’s time for another Record Store Day, an event we love so much that we’re even willing to put up Black Friday crowds to to check out what our local independent record store have stocked up to coincide with the event. Unlike last November’s installment (2012’s second RSD), which featured a slightly paired down list of offerings, this year’s edition of every serious record collector’s favorite holiday features a robust list of wares from across the musical spectrum. If you’re serious about music and owning physical copies of it, there’s at least a few things likely to catch your fancy. With that in mind, here are the five things (in no particular) we’d be sure to pick-up tomorrow.

1. Bat for Lashes – “Laura/Marilyn” (Vogue Love Songs Sessions) 7″ (Parlophone)

The two stripped down yet emotionally powerful songs Natasha Kahn re-recorded for Vogue (beefier renditions of both appeared on last year’s “The Haunted Man”) back in February finally get an official, albeit limited, release. - BH

2. Evian Christ – “DUGA 3″ 12″ (Tri Angle)

As cliched as it may sound, British producer Joshua Leary came out of nowhere with last year’s enigmatic “Kings and Them” mixtape, an icy concoction of ambient sounds and hip-hop. This experimental 12″ is his experimental follow-up. - BH

3. GZA – “Liquid Swords” Chess Box (Get On Down)

This is the kind of item Record Store Day was made for. Who wouldn’t want to purchase GZA’s classic post-”36 Chambers” debut solo album in a box set that doubles as a chess set, which you’ll probably never play? - CH

4. Husker Dü – “Amusement” 7” (Numero Group)

A special double 7-inch released by Numero Group featuring the original “Amusement” single, plus two other tracks from the same studio session. This one will go quick. - CH

5. Stephen Malkmus and Friends – “Can’s Ege Bamyasi” (Matador)

The Pavement frontman performed the whole album by Krautrock legends Can at the  Week-End Fest in Cologne, accompanied by local band Von Spar, last year, and now the set is getting a special limited release. - CH
